S (;09 WHEREAS, on March 22, 1980, the Miss Aloha Hawaii Scholarship Pageant was concluded with the selection of Miss Kathy Kawehelani Shotwell as the reigning queen for the year 1980; and WHEREAS, in this annual pageant which was themed "Spring... Affair", thirteen talented and beautiful young ladies vied fax honors in different phases of competition, in which Kathy Shotwell emerged as the deserving overall winner; and WHEREAS, Miss Shotwell, a senior at Waiakea high School will enhance her educational pursuits in accounting and French at the University of Puget Sound, Washington, as during her tenure as Miss Aloha Hawaii she will have the opportunity to meet and converse with people of diverse talents and backgrounds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Kathy Shotwell and offers its best wishes for a fulfilling reign as chief hostess of the Island of Hawaii. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council wishes Kathy good luck and success in her quest for added laurels at the upcoming Miss Hawaii 1980 competition. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii is instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to the 1980 Miss Aloha Hawaii, Kathy Kawehelani Shotwell; her parents, the Reverend David and Audrey Shotwell; her sponsor, the Hilo Lagoon Hotel; Principal of Waiakea High School, Robert Bean; and to the Lehua Jaycees, sponsors of the pageant.
