Resolution
WHEREAS, the Committee of the Whole of the Hawaii County Council
recently concluded their departmental program reviews of various exe-
cutive departments; and

WHEREAS, one of the finding has been the drastic need for improved
working conditions in the County Building, as the existing structure is
not capable of providing a productive work environment; and
WHEREAS, this space requirement problem will be compounded as the
transfer of the real property taxation functions to the County becomes
a reality; and
WHEREAS, the County Building serves as a vital central locale for
many local government services,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it requests the Department of Public Works to conduct an
in-house structural assessment of the County Building for expansion
purposes and that it report its findings, recommendations and con-
struction estimates to the County Council on or before June 17, 1980.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
remit copies of this resolution to the Honorable Herbert T. Matayoshi,
Mayor of the County of Hawaii and Mr. Edward Harada, Chief Engineer
of the Department of Public Works.
