WHEREAS, PATRICK OMORI of Mt. View, Hawaii, participated in
the U. S. AAU National Senior Weightlifting Championships at
Totowa, New Jersey on May 12, 1979, and excelled in the 56 Kilogram
Class (123 lbs.); and
WHEREAS, in winning his weight class, PATRICK OMORI snatched
192 pounds, clean and jerked 253 pounds for a total weight of
445 pounds; and
WHEREAS, PATRICK OMORI was one of the top four competitors
in his weight class invited to participate at the National Sports
Festival sponsored by the U. S. Olympic Committee at Colorado
Springs; and
WHEREAS, again he proved his prowess by placing first in his
weight class with a total weight of 456 pounds; and
WHEREAS, this championship title is just one of his many
successes in weightlifting competition; 10 State championships,
2 first places and 7 second places in U. S. Senior National
Weightlifting competition; and
WHEREAS, PATRICK 0I4ORI has indicated his intentions to retire
from state and national competition and to concentrate his efforts
in developing a conditioning program for our local university and
high school athletic programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF IiAWAII that it congratulates MR. PATRICK OMORI for his accomplish-
ments in the sport of weightlifting and for the recognition that
he has brought to the Big Island.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii
wishes him continued success upon retirement from competitive
weightlifting.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a true copy of this resolution to MR. PATRICK. OMORI,
Mt. View, Hawaii.
