Resolution
WHEREAS, pursuant to County Charter Section 3-14 interim amendments
to the Salary Ordinance may be by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended for the following department:
CETA TITLE II AND CETA TITLE VI (FEDERALLY FUNDED) (EXHIBIT F AMENDED)
ADD SECTION 8.17. THE HAWAII COUNTY OFFICE OF AGING.
Title VI
1. Add one new position of Community Services Aid I SR -7.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted
to the departments of Aging, Finance, Personnel Services and Corporation
Counsel for their information.

1. Give reasons how new duties arose (statutes enacted, Ordinances,
Newly authorized programs, basis for increased workloads, etc.):
This position is created for the purpose of demonstrating a coordinated effort to
provide transportation to the handicapped, including the handicapped elderly, in
accordance with the Dept. of Transportation'rules (49 CFR Part 27) which implements
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This project involves commitments
from the: 1) Easter Seals Society to provide a new van with wheelchair lift,
2) Protection & Advocacy Agency to provide space, 3) Office.of Aging to provide
dispatch support & program monitoring, and 4) Mass Transit.Agency to provide
maintenance of the van.

dictation 40%; 2. Keps office accounts 30%, etc.):

be assigned to classes at higher level or handled in other ways

1). The Dept. of Transportation has final rules (49 CFR Part.27) which implements
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; to require recipients of
financial assistance from the Dept. of Transportation make their existing
and future facilities and programs accessible to handicapped persons, including
the handicapped elderly so they can effectively use these facilities and
programs.
