WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Charter, the "Constitution" for
the County of Hawaii, provides the basic framework for the county
government's organization and operation; and
wHERFAS, Section 13-5 of the Charter mandates a study and
review of the Charter be held every 10 years; and
IMEREAS, the 11 Charter Commissioners accepted their call for
public service - without compensation - with sincere dedication
and singleness of purpose; and
WHEREAS, in their process of conducting public meetings and
hearings throuc*hout the county, each commissioner unselfishly
rendered hundreds of hours of personal time to insure that the
proposed Charter amendments in the November 3, 1979, Special
Flection reflected the desires of the majority and were in the
best interest of the people,
NOTt', THERFFORF.., BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
of I'AWAII that these 11 Charter Commissioners: Mr. Kimiaki
Sakata, Chairman; Mr. Spencer Yalani Schutte, Vice Chairman;
Mr. Harlan Cadinha; Mr. Richard Ishida; ms. Amy Iwamoto;
Ms. Gloria Kobayashi; Ir. Akira Omonaka; Mr.. Merman Sensano;
Mr. J. E. "Bud" Trulson; Mr. BasiliO Yagong; and Mr. Matsuo
Yanaga be commended for a job well-done.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit a true copy of this resolution to each commissioner.
