County of Hawaii --State of Hawaii
Resolution
WHEREAS, vehicular traffic in the West Hawaii area has
increased rapidly beyond forecasts in the past few years; and
WHEREAS, there exists a steadily worsening traffic bottleneck
in the area of Kailua caused mostly by north -south through traffic;
and
WHEREAS, the ongoing Queen Kaahumanu Highway extension project
is seen as the single most effective relief measure for this critical
problem
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it hereby requests and urges the State Department of
Transportation to review the project and initiate all possible
measures to expedite early completion of the extension.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to Dr. Ryokichi Higashionna, Director of the State Depart-
ment of Transportation.
