RESOLUTION NO. 5'13
EN
WHEREAS, several judicial decisions rendered by former
Third Circuit Court Judge Tamao Monden during his appointment from
1959-1968 have greatly contributed to the societal benefit of. Big
Islanders today; and
WHEREAS, Judge Monden's astute application of tl.e law in
private practice as well as public service have left an indelible
example for future generations of attorneys, judges and statesmen;
and
WHEREAS, Judge Monden's distinguished law career in the public
sector included serving as a law clerk in the territorial Attorney
General's office from 1937-1939, a U. S. referee in bankruptcy cases
from 1940-1946, and magistrate in the district courts of Puna,
South Hilo, Hamakua and Rohala in the 1940's and 1950's; and
WHEREAS, Judge Monden's dedicated and faithful public service
as an attorney and judge here on the Big Island spanned four decades
from 1937-1968,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it expresses its deepest sympathy and heartfelt
condolence to Mrs. Shigeko Monden, his wife; Gerald, his son; and
Carolyn, his daughter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
remit a true copy of this resolution to Mrs. Shigeko Monden.
