HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 567 Draft 01 1976-1980n County of Hawaii --State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, pursuant to County Charter Section 3-14 interim amendments to the Salary Ordinance may be by resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended for the following department: SECTION 8.14 (c). ENGINEERING DIVISION. DEPARTMENT OF WATER SUPPLY. 1. Add one new position of Engineering Technician I SR -11. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the departments of Water Supply, Finance, and Personnel Services for their information. Dated this 19th day of March 1980. DEPARTMENT OF PERSONNEL SERVICES COUNTY OF HAWAII ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I Duties Summary: 5.128 Performs tasks in support of engineering functions; and performs other related duties as required. Distinquishinq Characteristics: This class differs from that of Engineering Technician II in that the Engineering Technician I performs under supervision and following prescribed procedures in the preparation of charts and visual aids and obtaining and analyzing data in the water resource planning; whereas the Engineering Technician II per- forms various standardized tests on soil and construction materials and parti- cipates as a team member in field survey work as required. Illustrative Examples of.Work: Assists engineer in reviewing development proposals; keeps and updates required engineering and water quality data„and reports; keeps records of com- munications regarding availability of water, including general communications, subdivisions, change of zone, land use changes, and etc.; keeps and updates bacteriological, turbidity, chemical and chloride and other related data; prepares water consumption reports 4id graphs by systems and subsystems; makes computations and prepares charts and visual aids; compares master meter reading with customer meter readings; maintains current inventory of lots with service laterals versus lots with meter connections, source capacity data; assists engineer in field trips, class presentations, compaction tests; works with portable testing equipment for the analyses of turbidity, chloride, ph, chlorine residual and other water quality parameters available from the equipment; meets with the public to answer routine questions regarding availability of water and requirements for service. Minimum Qualification Requirements: Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics and some science with some work experience in engineering -oriented functions. Knowledge of: general math, algebra and trigonometry and chemistry; the general sources of engineering information. Ability to: make mathematical computations; analyze statistical data and reduce to desired data; understand rules and regulations of the department regarding customer services and subdivision requirements; understand general operation of a water system; type reasonably well and print legibly; do free-hand lettering and charting; keep records and prepare reports. ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I -2- Physical Requirements: Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary .and proper for performance of the duties.
