HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 574 Draft 01 1976-19800 C� RESOLUTION NO.•. 574 WHEREAS, on February 13, 1980, the West Hawaii Bar Association was formed at an organizational meeting held at the' King Kamehameha Hotel; and WHEREAS, the officers elected are President, Gary G. Grimmer; Vice President, Michael Matsukawa; Secretary, Ray Olmstead; Treasurer, Pat Shaughnessey; Executive Committee member, Kaipo Prejean; and WHEREAS, 91 percent of the eligible 34 attorneys now residing and/or practicing in Kona and Kohala have joined the association; and WHEREAS, the primary goals of the West Hawaii Bar Association are to obtain a permanent Circuit Court Judge for West Hawaii, and also to start a new law library in Kona, allowing attorneys to do their research without coming into Hilo, thereby reducing the travel cost which will ultimately reduce the cost to their clients; and WHEREAS, the association also plans to utilize the video legal seminar made available by the Hawaii State Bar Association, and by the University of Hawaii Law School for the members' benefit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it congratulates the officers and members of the West Hawaii Bar Association and wishes them success in achieving their goals in obtaining a circuit judge and a law library in Kona. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii send a true copy to Gary G. Grimmer, President of the West Hawaii Bar Association. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 19th day of March, 1980.
