WHEREAS, the Vulcans of the University of Hawaii -Hilo beat
the Wolves of the Oregon College of Education for their third
District II basketball championship, thus earning the right to
represent the District II region at the National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics National Championships in Kansas City,
Missouri; and
WHEREAS, the

WHEREAS, the

play; and
Vulcans have always represented the city of Hilo
off the courts, during regular season and post-
Vulcans basketball program, led by head coach
wined state-wide recognition for its exciting

WHEREAS, Todd Zirbel, senior forward, has been named to the
All -District II First Basketball Team,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE. COUNTY
OP HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to the U. H. H.
Vulcans basketball team and may they continue their winning ways
at the National Championships in Kansas City, Missouri.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
transmit true copies of this resolution to Dr. Stephen Mitchell,
Chancellor; tor. Ramon Goya, Athletic Director; Mr. Jin+my Yagi,
Head Coach and Members of the 1979-80 Vulcans Basketball team.
