Aloha Chair Yoshimoto and Members of the Hawaii County Council,
As a resident of District 4- I am ashamed and embarassed that my council representative introduced a
resolution like this on the infamous June 16th 2009 meeting. Despite the previous testimony in
opposition to the similar resolution, and the way 5 members seemed to ignore the testimony, here we are
at it again.
I strongly oppose Dennis "Fresh" Onishi's appointment to the Finance Chair position- given the fact that
the last meeting on July 22nd, he didn't seem all that attentive to Mr. Ashida's update on the WHT
lawsuit, and even asked about the "vote on executive session" after it was painfully obvious that the
council and Mr. Ashida were speaking in the open.
I oppose the appointment of Mr. Enriques to planning and public works committee chair/vice-chair,
because the planning and public works of this island is much more complicated that a sports game.
I oppose the appointment of Emily Naeole to the Vice-Chair position, because she is dangerously
unqualified.
I oppose this resolution in its entirety, and strongly urge that the council leave the re-orgs until
December, after everyone has sat one year in their positions. If certain council members choose to
ignore the testimony in opposition again, I'm sure that the citizens of this island will do some re-
organization of the council on their own come 2010.
