HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 448 Draft 01 1976-1980f � O RESOLUTION NO.-_ 448 WHEREAS, former Hawaii County Councilman RICHARD GUY "RICK" EDWARDS, passed away on June 11, 1979, at his home in Hawaiian Paradise Park; and WHEREAS, during his 18 years as a resident of the Big Island, RICK EDWARDS served as a member of the Puna Lions, the Puna Young Farmers, the Puna Community Council, the Puna Local Development. Corporation, the Hawaii Island Board of Realtors, the East Hawaii Committee of the Hawaii Visitors Bureau, and the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, RICK EDWARDS also served as the Big Island Chairman of the Republican Party and represented the Big Island as a dele- gate to the National Republican Convention; and WHEREAS, RICK EDWARDS championed a Code of Ethics and a Board of Ethics --now features of our Hawaii County Code; and WHEREAS, RICK EDWARDS served the people of Hawaii as Puna District Councilman from 1968 to 1972; and WHEREAS, after the discovery of Cancer last year, RICK EDWARDS assisted the American Cancer Society in setting up a program to help cancer patients live with the disease. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it expresses its profound sadness upon the passing of RICHARD GUY "RICK" EDWARDS and extends its condolences and deepest sympathy to his family. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit true copies of this resolution to his mother, Mrs. Helen Edwards; his daughter, Cyndie Holmes; and to his brothers, Charles Edwards and Jim Morr.
