Resolution
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation proposes to construct
a truck climbing lane along the Hawaii Belt Road at Onomea, South Hilo, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, said truck climbing lane construction will encroach onto a portion of
the government roadway known as the Onomea Camp Road which: is maintained by the County
of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, said area is no longer of any use to the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the area required for the construction of the truck climbing lane has
not been abandoned; and
WHEREAS, it has been represented to the County of Hawaii that the State Depart-
ment of Transportation shall negotiate with the State Department of Land and Natural
Resources for transfer of the abandoned road area for use as a truck climbing lane;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the area needed for
the construction of the truck climbing lane being a portion of the Onomea Camp Road
as delineated in red on the map attached hereto and marked Exhibit "A" and "B", be and
is hereby declared abandoned.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be authorized and directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the Department of Land and Natural Resources and
the Department of Transportation of the State of Hawaii and to the Department of Public
Works of the County of Hawaii.
