Resolution
WHEREAS, Article VII of the Hawaii County Charter establishes
departments and agencies under the auspices of commissions whose
members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the
Hawaii County Council; and
WHEREAS, compensation except for necessary expenses in line
with the duties; and
WHEREAS, the commission members are serving in the best
interest of the people of Hawaii and should be assured the proper
protection against any criminal or civil proceedings as a result
of their decisions and actions; and
WHEREAS, certain actions by the Police Commission have
resulted in claims arising against this body.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in order to retain the integrity and to protect
the members asked to serve on the County's many boards and
commissions, the County Council authorizes the Police Department
to finalize all claims rendered for professional services
pertaining to Civil No. 4275•
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to Mayor Herbert T. Matayoshi, Director of Finance
Stanley Nakamae, and Chief of Police Guy Paul.
