10HEREAS, Hugh J. Clark, the Big Island's Bureau Chief of
the Honolulu Advertiser, was recently honored by being selected
to participate in a four-week seminar on "The Free Flow of Ideas;
the International, Iiistorical and Cultural Dimensions", to be
conducted this summer at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Clark will be exchanging thoughts with a select
and exclusive group of people in that only twelve applicants in
the entire nation were chosen to participate in this seminar; and
WHEREAS, the sponsors of the seminar, the National Endowment
for the Humanities, has made a valid choice to a deserving applicant,
as Hugh Clark is a knowledgeable and an esteemed member of the
Fourth Estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL, OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it hereby congratulates Hugh J. Clark for this
noteworthy selection and wishes him continued recognition in his
given profession.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be instructed to remit a true copy of this resolution to
Hugh J. Clark.
