Resolution
WHEREAS, pursuant to County Charter Section 3-14 interim amendments
to the Salary Ordinance may be by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended for the following departments
FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDED (EXHIBIT B)
SECTION 8.15. OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
(STATE FUNDED -EXEMPT POSITIONS)
Organized Crime -Selected Offender Unit
1. Add one new position of Deputy Prosecuting Attorney LS -17.
2. Add one new position of Special Investigator SR -24.
3. Add one new position of Legal Stenographer SR -14.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
the departments of Prosecuting Attorney, Finance, Personnel Services, and
Corporation Counsel for their information.

NEW POSITIONS
I. DEPUTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY LS -17
A. Law Schedule: LS -17
Minimum - $28,608 per annum; Maximum ā$34,644 per annum
B. Proposed Job Description: Serves as head of the Organized Crime -Selected
Offender Unit and performs legal services in
dealing with organized crime and certain
categories of offenders which present a particular
danger to the community.
II. SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR SR -24
A. Salary Range: SR -24
Minimum - $1,297.00; Maximum - $1,975.00
B. Proposed Job Description:
III. LEGAL STENOGRAPHER SR -14
Conducts investigations for the Prosecuting
Attorney, the State Attorney General and other
governmental agencies, as assigned; investigates
complaints of alleged violations of laws and
regulations to ascertain extent and nature of
violations; obtains information and evidence;
secures witnesses and interrogates witnesses;
and performs other related duties.
A. Salary Range: SR -14
Minimum - $824.00; Maximum - $1,238.00
B. Proposed Job Description: Performs independently a variety of legal
stenographic and clerical work for the
Organized Crime -Selected Offender Unit; and
performs other related duties.
Funding for the above positions: State -funded (Refer to Council's Ordinance No.
399 adopted November 15, 1978)
Rationale for the above Requests:
State funds have been granted to implement the Organized Crime -Selected Offender
Unit. The responsibility of this unit will be the priotization of prosecutorial
resources toward those individuals who habitually commit serious crimes such
as robbery, rape, aggravated assault and burglary, or who present a serious
danger to the community and toward the investigation and prosecution of
organized crime figures.
