Resolution
WHEREAS, the Republican Party has greatly influenced the
nation's history since the election of the Great Emancipator
Abraham Lincoln who was the first Republican President during
the year of 1860; and
WHEREAS, the Republican Party in Hawaii dominated the County
government and the Territorial Legislature for over 54 years
since Hawaii's annexation as a Territory of the United States;
and
WHEREAS, Hawaii's statehood was achieved while a Republican
President was in office and, after statehood, the people of Hawaii
elected a Republican to be the first Governor.
WHEREAS, The Biennial Hawaii State Organizing Convention will
convene at the Kona Hilton Hotel on April 27 and 28, 1979, with
approximately 200 of the 287 statewide precinct delegates in
attendance; and
WHEREAS, there will be an election for a State Chairman,
four Vice -Chairmen, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a National Committee-
woman, and a National Committeeman in order for the Hawaii
Republicans to conduct their affairs; and
WHEREAS, the delegates will be considering many aspects of
the party program and activities in order to rejuvenate the
hibernating Republican Party of Hawaii.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it wishes all Republican Party delegates a
successful and fruitful convention.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this resolu-
tion to the Biennial State Organizing Republican Convention at
the Kona Hilton Hotel, Kona, Hawaii.
