Resolution
WHEREAS, pursuant to County Charter Section 3-14 interim amendments
to the Salary Ordinance may be by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Salary Ordinance is hereby amended for the following department:
SECTION 8.08 (f-1). SOUTH HILO (DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, BUREAU OF
ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE)
1. Reallocate one position of Equipment Operator II WB -9 to
Tractor Mower Operator WB -4.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted
to the departments of Public Works, Finance, Personnel Services, and
Corporation Counsel for their information.

A. Wage Board:
Present: RB -9
Minimum - $868.00; Maximum - $1,015.00
Proposed: WB -4
Minimum - $674.00; Maximum - $779.00
B. Job Description:
From: Equipment Operator II
Present Duties: Operates medium-sized equipment to excavate and
grade earth and to transport materials, equipment
and supplies used in the construction, repair and
maintenance of highways, buildings and adjacent areas
and other governmental installations; and performs
other related duties.
To: Tractor Mower Operator
New Duties: Trims grass and weeds along sides of roads, streets
and highways; maintains and makes minor repairs on
tractors such as lubricating, cleaning spark plugs,
refilling battery water, cleaning radiator, checking
hydraulic system and changing tires; and performs
other related duties.
C. Rationale for the Request:
Reallocation downward of the position will enable the South Hilo Road
District to increase the frequency of grass cutting maintenance work.
Because of the additional road mileage being dedicated to the County, the
demand for grass cutting maintenance activity is constantly increasing.
D. Funding
Departmental budget. No additional cost involved.
