HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 400 Draft 01 1976-1980RESOLUTION No, � 400 t,!HEREAS, the 30th annual YMCA Youth Legislature was held during the five-dav recess of the State Legislature at the State Capitol and. the old Federal Building in Honolulu; and WHEREAS, four students represented the Kona Family mock legislature; and from Konawaena High School YMCA as participants in the WHEREAS, Steven Fukumitsu, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Pukumitsu, and Kathy Mur, daughter of Mrs. Hildegard Aniu, received two of the Key Awards for their outstanding participation as Representative and Senator respectively; and WHEREAS, Fukumitsu and Mur submitted a bill they co-authored which was inspired by recent revelations concerning capital improvement project expenditures in Cdest Hawaii compared to those for East Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the award winners were advised by faculty advisor Georgia Goeas, Kona Family Y?1CA Director Rick Taylor, bona attorney Mike Matsukawa, and also supported by fellow Kona delegates Student Senator Jeri Ann Tinnel and Student House of Representative Leaan Ross; and P?iiEREAS, the students revealed that through their participation they now 'lave a greater appreciation for the democratic legislative process and an increased understanding of the ins and outs of state and county government. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Steven Fukumitsu and Kathy Four for their selection as recipient of two Frey Awards. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit true copies of this resolution to Steven Fukumitsu; Kathy Mur; Mr. Rick Taylor; Mr. Mike Matsukawa; Miss Georgia Goeas; Jeri Ann Tinnel and Leaan Ross. 1979.
