Resolution No. 3'76,
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council recognizes that the
National Association of Counties Western Interstate Regional
Conferences are scheduled at varying locations throughout
the western region; and
WHEREAS, these conferences are productive mediums which
give county officials an opportunity to discuss national
issues of common concern and participate directly in the policy
setting process of the National Association of Counties; and
WHEREAS, it is projected that some 900 conferees with
their families will participate during this annual 5 -day
conference providing favorable economic stimulation to the
conference site; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council, conscious of the Big
Island's facilities, climate and flora; its anticipated geother-
mal and ocean thermal energy developments; and our role in
astronomic, volcanologic, and climatologic research; desires
to share these resources with the membership of the NACo
Western Region; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Association of Counties endorses
the County of Hawaii in its efforts to submit a bid as a
NACo Western Interstate Region Conference site.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it goes on record supporting the island
of Hawaii as the national Association of Counties Western
Interstate Regional conference site for 1982.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of
Hawaii and his Administration be urged to support and actively
participate at this conference on the island of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii remit true copies of this resolution to Mayor Herbert
Matayoshi and to Councilman George Akahane, President, Hawaii
State Association of Counties.
