Resolution
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council finds that during
periods of heavy rainfall, a large volume of run off water is
generated from the Kaao Homestead area. of Honokaa, Hawaii and
runs along Pikake Street; and
WHEREAS, this water which is normally diverted at the base
of Pikake Street, does accumulate and has caused flooding'and
property damage to the homes of the Kaao Subdivision between
Mamane and Ohia Streets; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that an improved drainage
system will alleviate these flooding conditions and its associated
property damage; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Kaao Subdivision have agreed
to grant to the County at no cost, an easement which will greatly
improve the channelization of water from the higher elevated
Kaao Homestead areas through the Kaao Subdivision and to the ocean.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the drainage easement being tendered by the
residents of the Kaao Subdivision be accepted by the Countv of
Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County
of Hawaii be authorized and directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to the Honorable Herbert T. Matayoshi, Mayor, County
of Hawaii.
