Home My WebLink AboutRES 087 Draft 02 1998-2000 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 8'7 99 (Draft 2) A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE PARKING METER MORATORIUM WITHIN THE AREA OF DOWNTOWN HILO AND REQUESTING THE REMOVAL OF PARKING METER HEADS. WHEREAS, the Council has determined that waiver of payment of a coin or coins pursuant to Chapter 24, Section 24-216 (a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983, for a one-year extension of the parking meter moratorium period beginning at 8:00 a.m. on July 1, 1999, and ending at 4:00 p.m. on June 30, in the year 2000, for all metered parking stalls in the downtown Hilo area, excluding parking metered stalls at the County and State buildings, and immediately adjacent to the Federal Building (on Kinoole Street, Wailuku Drive, and Kekaulike Street); and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that removing the parking meter heads within the areas affected by the moratorium will clarify the parking time limit requirements in downtown Hilo. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that it waives the payment of a coin or coins pursuant to Chapter 24, Section 24-216(a), of the Hawaii County Code 1983, for aone-year extension period beginning at 8:00 a.m. on July 1, 1999, and ending at 4:00 p.m. on June 30, 2000. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the [Department of Public Works is requested to remove the] Legislative Auditor's Office shall undertake a survey regarding parking needs and the removal of parking meter heads within the areas affected by the parking meter moratorium and report back to the Council by October 31, 1999. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward copies of this resolution to Mayor Stephen Yamashiro, the Department of Public Works, and the Hilo Downtown Improvement Association.
