RESOLUTION NO. 90 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF ONE THOUSAND FIVE
HUNDRED AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($1,500.00) FROM CHEVRON PRODUCTS
COMPANY, A DIVISION OF CHEVRON U.S.A., INC., TO BE USED TOWARDS
EXPENSES FOR THE HAWAII PETROLEUM FIRE PROTECTION COURSE.
WHEREAS, Chevron U.S.A., Inc. will be coordinating a Hawaii Petroleum Fire
Protection Course on Oahu scheduled for May 24, 1999 through May 28, 1999; and
WHEREAS, this course will include valuable training through both classroom and
hands-on field exercises in extinguishment and containment of a petroleum fire; and
WHEREAS, Chevron has graciously donated One Thousand Five Hundred And No/100
Dollars ($1,500.00) to the Hawaii County Fire Department to be used towards expenses of fire
department personnel attending said course; and
WHEREAS, participation in this course will help increase public safety for the residents
of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the acceptance of the donation will help defray the expenses to attend this
course; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the
County of Hawaii Fire Department is authorized to accept a donation of One Thousand Five
Hundred And No/100 Dollazs ($1,500.00) from Chevron Products Company, a division of
Chevron U.S.A., Inc.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the intent of the County of Hawaii that this
donation be used to offset expenses of fire department personnel attending the Hawaii Petroleum
Fire Protection Course set for May 24, 1999 through May 28, 1999.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation be sent to Chevron Products
Company acknowledging this generous donation.
The County Clerk shall forward copies of this resolution to Chevron Products Company,
the Hawaii County Fire Department, and the Department of Finance, Accounts Division.
