RESOLUTION NO. 100 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT, PURSUANT TO SECTION 46-7, HAWAII REVISED STATUTES, WITH
THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, THROUGH ITS
HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM, FOR A HIGHWAY SAFETY PROJECT
REIMBURSEMENT GRANT FOR THE PURCHASE OF EXTRICATION TOOLS BY THE
HAWAII COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation, through its Highway Safety
Program, has approved highway safety reimbursement project No. 157Em99-04(01-H-O1)/
EM99-04(01-H-O1) for the purchase of extrication tools by the Hawaii County Fire Department;
and
WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State Department of Transportation are derived
from grants provided by the federal government; and
WHEREAS, this project will upgrade the equipment that fire personnel use to respond to
emergency victims of automobile collisions; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department is ready and willing to proceed with its
obligations under the reimbursement grant; and
WHEREAS, Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, requires that county departments
obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments
respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend,
and receive funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken
pursuant to those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, in accordance with Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and the Hawaii County
Charter, the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement for such federal funding
for highway safety reimbursement project No. 157EM99-04(01-H-O1)/EM99-04(01-H-O1) with
the State Department of Transportation for the purchase of extrication tools by the Hawaii
County Fire Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to
sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the
Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Department of Finance, and the Fire
Department.
