Resolution
WHEREAS, Amendment 16, as proposed by the 1978 Hawaii
State Constitutional Convention, regarding County Power to
Tax Real Property, has been approved by the voters in the
General Election conducted on November 7, 1978; and
WHEREAS, Amendment 16 grants the counties the exclusive
power to exercise all functions, powers and duties relating
to the taxation of real property; and
WHEREAS, these newly acquired functions will be
incorporated into the operation of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, Rule 6, Section 2(a) of the Rules of Procedure
of the Hawaii County Council defines the scope of function of
the Committee on Finance; and
WHEREAS, the newly acquired function is in consonance
with the matters relating to the Committee on Finance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the scope of function of the Committee
on Finance be expanded to incorporate the matters relating
to the functions, powers and duties associated with the
taxation of real property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii incorporate the additional functions indicated above
into the proper section of the present Rules of Procedure of
the Council of the County of Hawaii.
