FELIX,. a Big Island member of the University of Hawaii Board of Regents, passed away on September 9, 1978; and WHEREAS, ALBERT M. FELIX began his career in Honolulu as a police officer; then worked and studied his way through law school and became an attorney; and WHEREAS, ALBERT M. FELIX.came to the Big Island in the mid -1940's to become a Deputy County Attorney and later entered politics to be elected and re-elected as County Attorney from 1948 until he was appointed Judge of the First Circuit Court in 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and served as a Judge for the Third Circuit Court from 1959 to his retirement in 1969; and WHEREAS, ALBERT M. FELIX was appointed to the County Police Commission in 1974 and then resigned from the commission upon his appointment to the University of Hawaii Board of Regents in 1976; and WHEREAS, in the field of.labor relations, ALBERT M. FELIX served as an arbitrator in settling grievances between labor and management and was respected by both groups for his fair and reasonable rulings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it expresses its profound sadness upon the passing of ALBERT M. FELIX and extends its condolences and deepest sympathy to his family. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit true copies of this resolution to his wife, Irene Felix, and to his son, Douglas Felix.
