Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 412, reports as follows
Communication No. 412, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, dated June 22,
2009, authorizes the acceptance of donations from Mr. Jack Clayton, Terminal Operations
Supervisor, and Tesoro Employees, Tesoro Hawaii Corporation.
The employees of Tesoro Hawaii Corporation have graciously donated fifty (50) $20 gift cards
(totaling $1,000) to the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division,
Nutrition Program. This donation is to be used for the Meals On Wheels program for all the
volunteers that help deliver meals island-wide to the Meals On Wheels clients.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of
the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c) of the Hawaii County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within capitalization procedures of the Department of
Finance shall be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Jack Clayton, Terminal Operations Supervisor and the
Tesoro Employees, Tesoro Hawaii Corporation, 607 Kalaniana`ole Highway, Hilo, Hawaii
96720-7450.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 412,
and recommends the acceptance of donation.
