REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND <br />PARKS AND RECREATION <br />DATE: July 7, 2009 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />TIME: 2:37 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Re: Comm. No. 411 <br />Your Committee on Public Safety and Pazks and Recreation, to which was referred <br />Communication 398, reports as follows: <br />Communication No. 411, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated June 22, 2009, nominates <br />Mr. Scott Stabo of Council District 6 to serve on the Hawaii County Fire Commission. <br />According to Communication 411, Mr. Stabo is a three year resident of Hawaii, and is a <br />self-employed General Contractor with Stabo Construction Company, Inc. He serves as a volunteer <br />firefighter in his community. A member of the Republican Party, he will serve a term to end on <br />December 31, 2013, replacing Ms. Karen Kudlo, whose term expired on December 31, 2008. <br />Pursuant to Article VI, Chapter 4, Section 6-4-5, Hawaii County Charter, "There shall be a fire <br />commission, which shall consist of nine members ...appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the <br />council in the manner prescribed in Section 13-4." <br />Mr. Enriques spoke in favor of the appointment. <br />Chair Yagong advised Deputy Corporation Counsel Brandon Gonzales, who was present at the <br />meeting, that Mr. Stabo is not required to be present for the final confirmation at full Council. <br />Your Committee on Public Safety and Pazks and Recreation recommends the confirmation of the <br />appointment of Mr. Scott Stabo to serve on the Hawaii County Fire Commission. <br />/na <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX <br />ENRIQUES X <br />FORD X <br />GREEN W ELL X <br />HOFFMANN X <br />IKEDA X <br />NAEOLE X <br />ONISHI X <br />YAGONG X <br />YOSH[MOTO X <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND <br />AND RECREATION <br />DOMINIC YAGON~r, <br />PSPRC <br />ADOPTED: <br />
