RESOLUTION NO.112 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A THREE YEAR
AGREEMENT FOR TELEPHONE SERVICES.
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease, or
other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal yeaz or more
than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, GTE Hawaiian Telephone has proposed very favorable rates for the
County's Centranet telephone system that will result in annual savings of over $40,000; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to lock in these new rates for three yeazs to guazd against
future rate increases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the County of Hawaii that
the Mayor is authorized to enter into a three yeaz contract with GTE Hawaiian Telephone for the
operation of the County's Centranet telephone system, and that sufficient funds be budgeted in
future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligation of the County under this contract.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this resolution to the
Office of the Mayor and the Depaztment of Finance.
