1�7HRREAS, volunteers and volunteer organizations have played
a unique and irreplaceable role in the growth and development of.
Hawaii County by identifying and defining needs, by providing services
to meet those needs, by advocating on behalf of those unable to speak
for themselves, and by advising and directing both private and public
organizations and agencies; and
Wh EREAS, volunteerism, as a central partner with governr.ent and.
business, is a growing force that is continually contrihuting to the
well being of Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, many of today's complex challenges can be net by
increased involvement of the individual citizens who, as volunteers
with a wealth of diverse backgrounds and their deep sense of caring,
would bring new and fresh ideas for solving problems; and
WHEREAS, our communities benefit as more and more citizens bestow
the priceless gift that comes only when people give of themselves; and
1151EPEAS, recognition should be given to individual volunteers for
their contributions to the health, education and welfare, recreation,
environmental and cultural services, to the benefit of their fellow
citizens and their communities.
