HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 390 Draft 01 1980-1984County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, the Big Island can and will realize its fullest potentials of productivity and beauty through the implementation of a Comprehensive Water Supply System; and WHEREAS, this goal may be achieved by the establishment of a water storage and distribution system in the Saddle Road area on the island; and WHEREAS, studies have been conducted showing the feasibility of raising water from the wet windward side of the island to the Saddle area and distribution by gravity flow; and WHEREAS, such a water distribution system will benefit many island land users including potential food crop growers; and WHEREAS, we are on the threshold of developing abundant energy through geothermal and other sources of various purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it urges the County to take immediate steps to investigate the feasibility and viability of implementing such a centralized water supply system. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the administration be requested to oversee this project and provide periodic reports to the Council beginning with a preliminary report within 60 days.
