RESOLUTION teo. 387 82
WHEREAS, Turk Tokita, Executive Assistant to the Kauai County
Council and long -tine staff assistant to the Hawaii State Association
of Counties, is retiring fron active government service on June 30,
1982; and
WHEREAS, Turk's retirement will conclude an illustrious career of
more than 25 years with the Kauai County Government beginning with his
appointment in 1957 as Secretary to the Board Committees under the
former Kauai County Board of Supervisors, and culminating with his
present position as Executive Assistant to the Kauai County Council;
and
WHEREAS, throughout his government career, Turk has.always been
involved with the Hawaii State Association of Counties in various
capacities including but not limited to: Executive Secretary, Staff
Liaison, Staff Lobbyist, Conference Coordinator, Promotional
Coordinator, Host and Baggage Boy; and
4BHLMAS, his dual role as staff to the Kauai County Council and
the HSAC has enabled 'Durk to travel extensively throughout the
Mainland and in the process made many friends who fondly remember him
as "the Smiling Turk from Kauai-ya, Hawaii-ya" and "Good Old
Dependable"; and
WHEREAS, as a lifetime Democrat, Turk was instrumental in the
gubernatorial election of the late Governor John Burns and numerous
other campaigns involving local and state elective offices.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE I`2 RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it takes this means to thank Turk for 25 years of diligent
service to the Hawaii State Association of Counties and for his
numerous contributions to the promotional efforts of member Counties
and the State of Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Hawaii takes great
pleasure in joining our sister Counties of the HSAC in wishing Turk,
his wife Eniko, and his family the very best that retirement has to
offer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a true copy of this Resolution be
presented to Mr. Turk Tokita at the conclusion of the Hawaii State
Association of Counties' Annual Conference on June 10, 1982.
