ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`L•
SECTION 1. Purpose. Due to the recent openings of Manawalea Street and Keanalehu
Drive, it is necessary to enhance driver awareness of the Kealakehe Elementary School zone and
minimize risk to school children.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24-254 (schedule 2. 20 mile per
hour limit), paragraph (f), Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended),
is amended by adding the following subparagraph, to be appropriately numbered and to read as
follows:
"O Kealakaa Street in the school zone fronting Kealakehe Elementary
School, from a point five hundred ninety feet north of Palani Road
and extending one thousand six hundred forty feet in the northerly
direction while speed limit sign beacons are flashing."
SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and stricken material
and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordmance which can be given effect Without the invalid prOVISIOn or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordmance are declared to be severable
SECTION 5. This ordmance shall take effect upon its approval.
