No. 432/Res. 208-09 PLACE: Councilroom Ben Franklin Building, 2nd Floor 333 Kilauea Avenue Hilo, Hawaii 96720 TIME: 3:04 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Communication No. 432, regarding Resolution 208-09, reports as follows: Resolution 208-09, transmitted by Council Member Emily Naeole via Communication No. 432 dated July 1, 2009, seeking support of maintaining the 'lo, or Hawaiian Hawk (Buteo Solitarius) on the Federal List of Endangered and threatened wildlife. There was testimony from members of the public in support of the proposed resolution. Council Member Emily Naeole commented that this matter was brought to her attention by Mayor Kenoi. Furthermore, she added as a Native Hawaiian it is a good ho`ailona (sign indicating positive things to happen) when you see an `lo, or Hawaiian Hawk. She seeks the support of her colleagues on this proposed resolution.
