RESOLUTION NO. 380 82

WHEREAS, from 36 outstanding Older American nominees,
Mrs. Pauline S. Muramoto was named the outstanding Older American.
Female of Hawaii County for 1982 at the annual recognition luncheon
held at the Raiko'o Banquet Hall, 4uality.Inn Hilo Lagoon Hotel, on
May 4, 1982; and
WHEREAS, at age 74, Mrs. Muramoto, a native of Honokaa, has log-
ged a total of 2,370 hours.of volunteer work under the Retired Senior
Volunteer Program (RSVP), spending many hours tutoring stroke patients,
distributing "Vial of Life", serving food at the Honokaa Nutrition
Program, entertaining the less fortunate,.instructing craft projects,
serving as an interpreter; and
WHEREAS, as a member

WHEREAS, in the eyes of her fellow club members, Mrs. Muramoto

heart that loves ... giving of her time, talents and energy... (she is)
a giver rather than a receiver,"; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Muramoto has held various positions in the com-
munity, including President of the Hamakua Jodo Mission Fujinkai,
community representative of the Heart Fund Drive, currently volunteers
as a manager for the Hawaii Housing Authority, entertains at public
functions on a regular basis and is a volunteer at the Honokaa
Hospital, a day care center, and the Br tley Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TH COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Mrs. Pauline S. Muramoto
of Honokaa for being selected the 1982 Hawa i County Outstanding
Older American Female and wishes her good h alth so that she may be
able to continuously serve the people for m nyyyears to come.
