Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 105, reports as follows:
Bill No. 105, transmitted via Communication No. 362 from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated
June 23, 2009, presents a Request for Change of District Classification by Don Hoota and Eric
Hoota, at Waiakea Houselots, Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawaii, covered by TMK: 2-2-35:017.
Bill No. 105 seeks to change the zoning from Single-Family Residential - 10,000 square feet
(RS-10) to Industrial-Commercial Mixed - 20,000 (MCX-20) for the parcel which is
approximately 22,900 square feet in size.
There was no public testimony on the matter. Mr. Brian Nishimura appeared before your
Committee, but there were no questions or discussion on the matter.
Your Committee concurs with the Planning Commission and the Planning Director's favorable
recommendation for approval of the re-zoning request.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 105 and
recommends it pass first reading.
