RESOLUTION NO.`Ly' 9 G2
WHEREAS, in the annual nationwide competition held between
branch stores of the National Dollar chain, the Hilo National Dollar
was selected as the 1981 store of the year; and
WHEREAS, this prestigious achievement was attained despite
adverse economic conditions affecting almost every business
activity at the national, the state and at the county levels; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo National Dollar started 1981 b-- being
named the best store for the First Quarter, and culminated its
banner year with having the greatest percentage increases in three
major categories,namely,merchandise turnover, sales increase and
profit increase; and
WHEREAS, this coveted recognition was a result of the business
acumen of Manager Mrs. Kikue Iwanaka and the hard work and
dedication of her team of employees consisting of Florence Fukui,
Patricia Ragocos, Audrey Shimizu, Theresa Subica, Ruby Ahlo,
Gary Yamashita, Donna Oshiro, and Shirley Tajiri.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it extends congratulations to the management and
staff of the Hilo National Dollar for being selected as the store
of the year and also for doing their share to help to sustain a'
healthy economy for this island.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
is instructed to remit true coo_ies of this resolution to Manager
Kikue Iwanaka; Robert Sheehan, President of the Downtown Improvement
Association; and Milton Shoong, President of National Dollar, with
the Council's wishes for continued success.
