WHEREAS, Chief of Police Guy A. Paul on February 11, 1982,
announced the retirement of Police Captain Richard W. Santos,
effective February 16, 1982; and
WHEREAS, Police Captain Richard W. Santos, just prior to
retirement, headed the Criminal Investigation Division. He first
joined the department as a jail guard on July 17, 1950 and served
in the following positions during his 31-1/2 years of service:
- May 21, 1951, Police Officer, South Hilo Patrol Division
February 1, 1955, Motor Patrolman, North Hilo District
(Laupahoehoe)
- May 16, 1956, Motor Patrolman, South Hilo Patrol Division
- November 18, 1968, Detective, Criminal Investigation Division
February 1, 1975, Lieutenant, North Hilo District
(Laupahoehoe)
Lieutenant, Uniformed Patrol Division,
South Hilo District
- June 16, 1977, Captain and Commander of North Koha.la Division
- May 15, 1980, Commanded North Hilo Division
- November 16, 1981, Commanded Criminal Investigation Division
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Captain Richard W. Santos
of the Hawaii Police Department on his retirement after serving over
three decades in protective services for the County of Hawaii and further
wishes him good health and happiness in the years to come.
BE IT FURTHERPESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be
instructed to transmit a true copy of this resolution to Captain Richard
W. Santos.
