WHEREAS, on Monday, April 5, 1982, the Fifth Annual Na Hoku
Hanohano Awards was held before an appreciative sellout audience
of over 2100 people at the Neal Blaisdell Center Concert Hall in
Honolulu; and
UHEREAS, this prestigious awards ceremony is to recognize the
musical imagination and talents of the professional musicians and
technicians of Hawaii for their composition and/or rendition of
old or contemporary music which have graced.the ears of the public
over the last year; and
WHEREAS, the big Island was adequately represented and proudly
snared the ,boy of the festivities as the Lim family of Kohala was
honored for the best 'traditional Hawaiian Album of the Year; and
WHEREAS, this particular album, produced by Pumehana Records
and titled, "Pua Olena" which also is the featured song written by
Jimmy %aholokula, was the Lim's second straight Na Hoku victory in
this category.
NOW, THEREFGRE,.BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY Of
HA°VIAII that it commends the Lim family for their contributions in
sustaining our traditional Hawaiian music and at the same time
congratulates them for their second Na Hoku Hanohano Award.
BE TP FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be instructed to remit true copies of this Resolution to the Lim
family which includes parents Elmer K.S. and Mary Ann; son
Elmer K. and daughters Nanette and Lorna; Pumehana Records
producer Bill Murata; and composers Jimmy Raholokula and
Sarah Pule.
