HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 364 Draft 01 1980-1984County of Hawaii - State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, the SPORTSMEN OF HAWAII membership application contains an affidavit under "status" which indicates: 1) I am a citizen of good repute of the U.S.A., am not a member of any organization having as one of its purposes overthrow by force and violence of the government of the U.S.; 2) I am not under indictment nor have I been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year; 3) I am not a fugitive from justice; 4) I have not been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions; 5) If admitted to membership, I will fulfill the obligations of good sportsmanship and good citizenship; and WHEREAS, the SPORTSMEN OF HAWAII protects the rights of outdoor sportsmen, represents members in legislative affairs, provides commu- nity services, sponsors safety and youth programs, provides educational programs, keeps members informed of outdoor recreational issues and protects the right to bear arms; and WHEREAS, the SPORTSMEN OF HAWAII has recommended that the Mayor and Council Chairman look into the purchase of two tracking dogs to be made part of the rescue team to search for lost hikers and hunters, which would be cost/effective as compared to engaging search parties or using the helicopter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its support to the suggestion made by SPORTSMEN OF HAWAII in procuring two tracking dogs to be made part of the rescue team in search of lost hikers and hunters, and congratulates them for fostering sportsmanship, practicing conservation and making law abiding_ citizens of its members.. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii remit a copy of this resolution to Ken Funai, President of the SPORTSMEN OF HAWAII, and to Mayor Herbert Matayoshi.
