WHEREAS I Fred F. Trotter., a trustee for the Estate of
James Campbell for the past 12 years, has been named 1982
Hawaiian Businessman of the Year.; and
WHEREAS, the honor, known as the '1010 Award", has been
bestowed annually since 1977 by the Hawaiian Businessmen's
Association; and
WHEREAS, in bestowing the honor. to Fred Trotter, Walter
P. Yim, HBA president, said, "there are many successful
businessmen and businesswomen with Hawaiian heritage, but we
have singled out Fred Trotter. in 1982 because he has drawn
regularly from this part -Hawaiian heritage and his lifetime
in the Islands to achieve multinle successes --as a Hawaiian
man, as a businessman and as an outstanding community leader.";
and
11111EREAS, Fred Trotter has spent 16 years .in the sugar
industry on all four major islands holding positions in
irrigation, field superintendent, assistant manager and
manager in the various sugar plantations; and
WHEREAS, Fred Trotter's current civic activities include:
Aloha Council Boy Scouts, president; Rehabilitation Hospital
of the Pacific, past president and now director; 200 Club,
member; Waipahu Cultural Garden Steering Committee, chairman;
Hawaiian Music Foundation, director; iiahuku Hospital, director;
tiawii.an Educational Council, member.; Oceanic Institute,
trustee; Hawaii Baptist Academy fund drive, chairman; James
Campbell Foundation, president; Hawaiian Civic Advisory Group,
member; and
WHEREAS, Fred Trotter previously served as chairman of
the Aloha Stadium Authority; vice chairman of State Water
Commission; other past activities including Hawaii Bound,
Hawaii Employers Council, Hawaii Pacific College, Hawaii Visitors
Bureau, Pacific and Asian Affairs Council, Junior Achievement;
and
WHEREAS, as a part -Hawaiian, Fred Trotter is an .influential
advocate and supporter. of Hawaiian culture and Hawaiian heritage.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations
to FRED TROTTER, in being named 1982 Hawaiian Businessman
of the Year and bestowed upon him the honor, known as
the 11010 Award" by the Hawaiian Businessmen's Association.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County
of Hawaii be instructed to remit a true copy of this
resolution to Fred Trotter and to President Walter P. Yim
of the Hawaiian Businessmen's Association.
