WIIF'RFAS, L. Piilani. Nahiwa, a lona-time kama'aina resident
of the Big Island, was recently honored by being chosen to head
the five -member Hawaii County Civil Service Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. IJahiwa, who has been on this commission since
March 1978, becomes the first woman ever to chair this important
panel, attesting to the vote of confidence her fellow colieaques
have given her to attend to the significant responsibilities vested
in the Civil Service Commission: and
WHE.RFAS, in this era where implementation of sensitive issues
such as collective bargaining, equal opportunity and affirmative
action laws require a knowledgeable, articulate and stronm willed
leader., Mrs. Nahiwa has proven that she possesses these leadership
abilities to keen the Commission continuously involved in vital
personnel matters.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TAE• COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it extends congratulations to L. Pi_ilani Nahiwa and her
employer, J. C. Penney Company, Inc.
