WE REAS, in January 1962, a "sister -city" relationship was
estaclishew between Orange County, California and the County of
Hawaii after a visit to Orange County was made by Uig Island
legislators indicating that Such an asscci. tl.on would have mutual
benefits to beth counties; and
WDLREAS, the year 1962 narks the 20th anniversary of thU
sister -city tract, which has over the cast years resulted in exchange
of correspondences, ordinances, ane annual reports on a sporadic
basis; and
F•."'9a''i AS, on the a:vent-of this occasion It would be timely to
renew and revitalize this government to government, county to
county, people to people relationship ac was intended 'twenty years
ago; and
SroRBEFAS, to this effect, preliminary plans have already teen
undertaken between the County of Lawaii and fill and Libby St. John,
Coordinators for the Orange C:unty interests for a visitation of at
least 100 constituents from our sister -city scheduled for the period
May 6-13, 1982, and
NOW, TLEP.@FOPE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County
of Hawaii., that in commemoration of this 20th anniversary, requests
that the Orange County Soard of Swpervisors namely, the Honcrabie
Ralph Clark, Chairman; the honorable Bruce Nestande, Vice -Chairman;
and Supervisors, the Honorable Harriet Kreider, the Honorahle
Thomas F. Riley, and the Honorable Roger R. Stanton lead the Orange
County delegation to participate in this visitation and the
activities planned for that occasion,
