RESOLUTION NO. w8G 62
WHEREAS, Achim Dietrich, Executive Chef of Mauna Kea Beach
Hotel, has enriched the lives of many children and adults in the
County of Hawaii by his benevolence and his sensitive awareness to
the general well-being of our handicapped; and
WHEREAS, for the past seven years, Chef Kim Dietrich has
sponsored as elegant Christmas luncheon at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
for classes of handicapped children from Honokaa, Waimea and
Kohala school through pledges received from his own 20 -mile run;
and
WHEREAS, the example set by Mr. Dietrich has stimulated a
desire on the part of the children to be on the 'giving end' where
they learned that when seeds of giving are sown, the satisfactions
reaped are bountiful; and
WHEREAS, in addition to assisting a needy family during, the
Christmas season, Mr. Dietrich has also aided.the West Hawaii
Humane Society, the Brantley Center, the Special Olympics and the
Salvation Army.
NOW, THERETO -M, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it expresses its warmest mahalo to Achim Dietrich for
his invaluable personal contributions to the people of Hawaii
County by heightening the level of awareness of those touched
through imparting the true spirit of aloha to others.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be instructed to remit copies of this resolution to Mr. Achim
Dietrich, Mr. Richard Helfer, :tanager of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel,
the principals of Honoltaa, Waimea and Kohala Schools, and the
Mayor's Committee on the Handicapped.
