RESOLUTION NO. 142 99
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TH6 OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
TH6 UNITED STATES OF AMBRICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A SS% CRIMES UNIT.
WHEREAS, the United States of America through the State Department of
the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division, is
desirous of providing funding to establish a sex crimes unit which will
specialize in investigations of sexual assault against juveniles and adults;
and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to
proceed with its obligations under the Sex Crimes Unit Grant; and
WHHREASt Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
departments obtain the consent of the council to entec into agreement with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of
the powers granted by laa to furnish, e~cpend and receive any funds or other
assistance >n connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to
those powers.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TH6 COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the
State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division.
B6 IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is
authorized to sign the above-referenced agreement and any related documents on
behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the
Hawaii County Charter.
B6 IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Finance Department and Police
Department.
