WaEREAS, on Saturday, December 5, 1981, the
traditional Christmas parade through the streets
successfully conducted by the Mauna Kea Jaycees;

WHEREAS, this group of young men of action who have sponsored
this event for the past four years appropriately tbamed this year's
parade "Jingle Bells", which in turn spurred creative, unique and
beautiful entries in the float division; and
WHEREAS, out of the forty-four ;parade entries, the respective
and deserving cash prize winners were the Haiti Christian School in
the large float category, Project Keiki in the small float division,
Hilo High School Band and Majorettes in the marchinS hand grouping,
anis the Hilo Gymnastics Club in the non-musical classification; and
WHEREAS, many man-hours were spent by the Mauna Kea Jaycees in
th2 planning and the co-ordinating of this well-received event as
attested to by the many happy participants and spectators who
enjoyed the festivities of the afternoon.
VOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THfs COUNCIL OF THE COUSTY Jr
HA:•IAII that It recognizes and commends the Mauna ilea Jaycees for
their community -minded spirit as sponsors of the annual Christmas
parade, and wishes them encouragement to continue this and their
other worthy public service endeavors.
BE If FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cterk of the County of Hawaii be
instructed to remit true copies of this resolution to Michael
Riviera, President of the Mauna Kea Jaycees; and to Paul Silva, Jim
Cowles and Jerry Hamamoto, Project Co-ordinators, for the successful
19£31 Christmas parade.
