WI EREAS, Dr. Donnis Thompson was selected by the State of
Hawaii's Board of Education to be the next Superintendent of
Education effective January 1, 1982; and
'JIIEREAS, this demanding, and challen?i.nr responsibility commands
qualifications of an individual olessed with administrative abilities
who can be responsive to the needs and concerns o$. our public school
students, til.air parents, teaci-iers, school administrators and the
Board of :;ducation; and
dLlz'2EAS, the providing of an :affective education of our State's
160,000 public school students is indead an important mandate which
will enhance the well bein- of an i;nportant resource, the chiliren of
Hawaii; and
[Ji:E:taAS, in -,he person of Donnls Taoapson a provan and esteemed
educator, Navin, attained her doctorate de—e in physical education
and Administration in 1967 and has been since 1973 women's Athletic
Director of the University of Hawaii Aanoa Campus, this trust of the
management of: the State's public schools is in capable hands.
