WHEREAS, on Saturday, Nov mbar 21, 1981, the Kona Arts
Center will be observing its 16th anniversary with appropriate
open house ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, since its inception, the Kona Arts Center has been
the cultural hub and catalyst for the Kona area having been
active in assisting with many community projects and has attained
esteem for its culturally -oriented achievements; and
WHEREAS, the deserved successes of the Kona Arts Center
along with its support facility, the Little Art Gallery which
will be celebrating its 6th anniversary, can be largely credited
to Bob and Carol Rogers, who have been the center's volunteer
managers and instructors 'for the past 16 years; and
WHEREAS, through the dedication of "Uncle Bob" and
"Aunty Carol", as they are affectionally and respectfully called,
they have sponsored well-received art exhibits beneficial to
known as well as aspiring artisan and craftsmen, have Conducted
successful workshops, and established a permanent art gallery,
all of which has help build a better Kona community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in commemoration of Kona Arts Center and the
Little Art Gallery's 16th and 6th anniversaries respectively,
that the Council extends best wishes for continued successes,
and to Bob and Carol Rogers, its appreciation for unselfishly
giving of their time and talent.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be instructed to remit true copies of this resolution
to Uncle Bob Rogers and Aunty Carol Rogerst and to Kiyoshi Ide,
President of the Kona Arts Center, along with the Hawaii County
Council's commendation for a job well done.
