HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 248 Draft 01 1980-1984r1� RESOLUTION NO. 248 P,1 WHEREAS, the 11th Annual Kona Coffee Festival began their scheduled celebration on Wednesday, November 4, 1981, and concluded the 4 -day event on Saturday, November 7, with the crowning of Miss Lani Aiko Sakamoto as Kona Coffee Queen for 1981; and WHEREAS, Lani, the 15 -year old daughter of Paul M. and Jane Sakamoto of Kailua-Kona, is a senior at Konawaena High School and a National Honor Society member; and WHEREAS, as an all-around young lady, she is an accomplished baton twirler, has had training in ballet, tap dancing, modeling, acrobatics, and enjoys tennis, skating, swimming, horses, and sewing as her other activities; and WHEREAS, as recipient of the $1200 scholarship award received at the Festival, Lani plans to pursue her higher education in business administration at the University of Hawaii. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its congratulations to Miss Sakamoto for being selected 1981 Miss Kona Coffee Queen and wishes that her reign will be an enjoyable one. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii transmit a true copy of this resolution to the new Miss Kona Coffee Queen, Lani Aiko Sakamoto, and her parents Paul M. and Jane Sakamoto.
