Comm. 487: AN ORDINANCE TO INITIATE AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE III,
(Bill 131) SECTION 3-18, LEGISLATIVE BRANCH, COUNTY COUNCIL, OF THE HAWAI‘I
COUNTY CHARTER 2000 (2008 EDITION), TO ESTABLISH BUDGETARY
INDEPENDENCE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR, REVISE
THE PROVISION RELATING TO RETENTION OF LEGAL COUNSEL, AND MAKE
ONE NON-SUBSTANTIVE CORRECTION TO EXISTING CHARTER LANGUAGE
{sets aside two-tenths of one percent (.002) of the combined operating, capital, and
special funds budgets for each fiscal year to be appropriated to the Office of the
Legislative Auditor for its annual expenses; reformats section 3-18(f) to set out the
paragraph pertaining to the Legislative Auditor’s right to retain independent counsel; and
makes other non-substantive housekeeping changes to section 3-18(f)}

Road (Ane Keohokalole Highway) - Federal project for $10 million to the Capital
Budget}
